The Empire State Building reigns over New York City at 102 stories and 1250 feet high. Erected in the 1930s, the Empire State building was built to showcase America's ecnomical and technological power.
The Statue of Liberty was dedicated to the U.S. as a gift of friendship from the French on October 28, 1886. The gift symbolized the alliance between the French and American during the American Revolution. And in 1924, Lady Liberty was designated as a National Monument.
In 1853, the New York legislature set aside approximately 750 acres for a public park to Manhatten Island. This would become what is now called Cantral Park.
